How Can We Help?
In this tutorial, we will explain how to use Python string isdecimal() method with basic syntax by example for better understanding.
The String isdecimal() method returns True if all the characters of the string are decimal; otherwise, it returns False.
Syntax:
<string_value/string_variable>.isdecimal()
Input Parameters:
- string_value / String variable : The string that we want to check whether it’s decimal or not.
Python Check String is decimal
We can check the string value it’s decimal or not by simply using the isdecimal() method. It means the string value is decimal. one example of a decimal value is “2021” and a non-decimal value is “20 21”.
Example (1)
#Print the result of isdecimal() method
num='2021'
print ('String variable is a decimal:', num.isdecimal())
Output of example (1)
String variable is a decimal: True
In the above example, string variable ‘num’ includes numbers so when we checked the number data type of it by num.isdecimal() in print statement then it shows the result as True.
Example (2)
#Print the result of isdecimal() method
print('String variable is decimal:','20 21'.isdecimal())
Output of example (2)
String variable is a decimal: False
In the above example, string variable ‘num’ is decimal so when we checked the number data type of it by num.isdecimal() in print statement then it shows the result as False.
